The overall winner for the African Championship is Imane Cherif Sahraoui from Algeria. For the first time in its eight year history the IODA African Championship has been won by a girl, Imane Cherif Sahroui of Algeria. Imane registered a hat-trick of girls‘ golds when she was also placed 6th over-all in 2008 and 4th in 2009. Two other girls, Ines Gnati of Tunisia and Lara Granier (Kenya) also finished in the top ten of the 62 sailor "closed" African event.
