Naivasha
Yacht Club enjoys a most spectacular setting on the south side of
Lake Naivasha on Lotus island beside Crescent island looking back
to the slopes of Mount Longonot.
It is a private members club with approximately
[120] members and provides an ideal opportunity for a fun day sailing
with your family in a very casual atmosphere.
We welcome anyone who is interested in sailing
from absolute beginners to those who have international experience.
If your child is interested in sailing we also have a category of
membership for cadets.
It is not necessary to own your own boat as there
are boats for hire which can be easily arranged for a reasonable
fee, although the club encourages you to have your own. The main
classes of boat currently sailed are Lasers and Fireballs, and Optimists
for cadets. However if you have a different class of boat you are
just as welcome.
The club comprises a clubhouse, changing rooms
with hot showers, and bandas for those who wish to stay overnight.
There is also ample space for those who wish to camp.
Security at the club is good as the only way to
reach the club by road is through a private farm which creates a
natural security barrier. When the water in the lake is high, the
only way to reach the island is by boat! It is quite safe to leave
your boat in the boat park and there are stores in which to keep
your equipment safely.
The club is also a very relaxing spot for those
of your family who might not wish to sail. There are obviously opportunities
for children to swim in the lake or simply play on the shore line.
There are wonderful walks for those interested in Kenya’s
diverse birdlife. As you drive on to the island you will pass herds
of wildebeest, giraffe, impala, waterbuck and the occasional hippo.
Patrick, the club helper, lives on the island and
will be able to help you with your boat at anytime.
The club is active and has a calendar
of weekend events to which all members are welcome. You can either
enter these events or simply potter around the lake in your boat.
The events cater for cadets, numerous competitions and training
opportunities for those that wish to learn to sail or improve their
skills.
Should you wish to join the club then please check the
membership page.
